About Ducker

Ducker loves to travel and visit new places. Sometimes he gets restless and quacks and quacks begging Mrs. Green to find someplace where he can go. He travels with the help of the Post Office most of the time since that is cheaper than airline tickets. Contact Janice D. Green if you would like to host Ducker for a visit to someplace special. He behaves himself most of the time.

Visiting the Dorothy Molter Museum

Ms. Terry took me to the Dorothy Moulter Museum. She was known by everyone around Ely as the Root Beer Lady.  Here is a link to the Museum web page: http://www.rootbeerlady.com This is a statue of Dorothy Molter. It's a good thing she is a statue or she would be frozen by now. Ely is the home of the "giant taste" of Dorothy's famous Root Beer. It would take a giant to drink a bottle of root beer this

New Friends in Ely

Ms. Terri took me to the Community Center where the Northern Lakes Arts Association (NLAA) was holding a Craft Fair (and bake sale – yummy) while the Ely Winter Festival was going on. Ms. Terri was working there as a volunteer. She introduced  me to some of her friends: Bob N. is a really great tour guide! Mr. Bob is a fantastic story teller, and spins a great story about Dorothy Molter at the Museum. He has a cool sense of

Getting ready for the Ely Winter Festival

I went with Ms. Terry for a couple more pictures in Ely. Here I am with the first snow sculpture of the Ely Winter Festival. Nancy Scheibe carved it in front of her coffee and tea house called “The Front Porch.” Her business is also the headquarters for the Ely Winter Festival. Here I am with Nancy Scheibe who carved the first snow sculpture of the 2011 Ely Winter Festival. The other carvers will start carving their snow sculptures tomorrow. Artist Nancy

Snow at the Schocke’s House

Ms. Terri and I went out to take some pictures around their home. Wow! There is sooooooo much snow here!   This is the entrance to Wolf Lake Lane where the Schocke's live.   Whoa! That snow is too deep for me! It covers part of one sign and almost reaches the street name too.   Here we are at the Schocke's home. These signs tell me which way to go.   We are at the end of Wolf Lake Lane. We are almost

Another Visit to the Bear Center

Yay! Ms. Terri took me back to the North American Bear Center again today and I got to see more inside the center. They have some cool wildlife displays. I gulped a time or two before I realized these were stuffed animals that couldn’t hurt me. Get a load of this big guy! He's a Polar bear from way up north.   This is an Arctic Wolf. I don't think I want to run into one of these outside.   This guy is
