Getting ready for the Ely Winter Festival

Home/Ducker's Adventures/Getting ready for the Ely Winter Festival

I went with Ms. Terry for a couple more pictures in Ely.

Here I am with the first snow sculpture of the Ely Winter Festival. Nancy Scheibe carved it in front of her coffee and tea house called “The Front Porch.” Her business is also the headquarters for the Ely Winter Festival.

Here I am with Nancy Scheibe who carved the first snow sculpture of the 2011 Ely Winter Festival. The other carvers will start carving their snow sculptures tomorrow.

Artist Nancy Scheibe’s sculpture is made to look like the official pin for this years Snow Festival. Every year the Festival has a different pin.

You can learn more about the Ely Snow Festival on this web page: www.elywinterfestival.com

If you click on this link you can watch the carvers as they carve their snow sculptures:  http://www.elyminnesota.com/popup/popup-mobilecam.html

Here is another picture we took in Ely:

Mural by Bob Cary
This mural shows a canoeist paddling to camp. See me in the snow drift. That man doesn't have a coat on. I guess maybe it does get warm in Minnesota in the summertime.

This mural is painted on a wall near Zup’s Grocery in Ely, MN. A man named Bob Cary painted this picture. That water looks so real. I would like to come back again in the summer time and ride in a canoe.

Ducker loves to travel and visit new places. Sometimes he gets restless and quacks and quacks begging Mrs. Green to find someplace where he can go. He travels with the help of the Post Office most of the time since that is cheaper than airline tickets. Contact Janice D. Green if you would like to host Ducker for a visit to someplace special. He behaves himself most of the time.
