My first morning in Leeds England…

Home/Ducker's Adventures/My first morning in Leeds England…

December 10th Leeds, England

Brr this snow is cold on web feet!

Today was a very busy and long day. First we visited a village school then we attended a “Victory in England” celebration at another school. Then we went to the theatre and finished off at Althea’s sister’s home. Whee! Read on to find out what happened at these different places.

This morning I went with Althea to visit a school in the village of Aberford. The village is near to Leeds and we traveled down the the M1 ( the name of a major motor way – called a highway in USA) and arrived just before the children arrived for their first lesson.

The school was very busy getting ready for Christmas because the children break up for their holidays on the 17th. These children were due to attend the local church for a special Christmas service in the afternoon but Althea and I did not stay for that. I remained in the school office whilst Althea visited a teacher. Then we took some pictures to show you some views of the village. Look for more posts about what happened today.

Althea has an allotment (a rented garden spot) in Aberford where she grows fruit and vegetables. It was too snowy and muddy for us to visit, but she did tell me about the annual show they have every year. Aberford started a new website last year and hope to improve it in 2011 http://www.aberfordshow.org.uk.

Here’s another place on the Internet to learn about Aberford:

Ducker loves to travel and visit new places. Sometimes he gets restless and quacks and quacks begging Mrs. Green to find someplace where he can go. He travels with the help of the Post Office most of the time since that is cheaper than airline tickets. Contact Janice D. Green if you would like to host Ducker for a visit to someplace special. He behaves himself most of the time.
