Lake Junaluska, NC

Home/Ducker's Adventures/Lake Junaluska, NC

I went to Lake Junaluska with Mrs. Green and her husband for the weekend. What a beautiful place.

Here is the house we stayed in. A lot of their friends who sing in their church choir back home also stayed in this house.

Ducker singing

The Greens and their friends spent a lot of time singing and learning new choir songs in a big choir. I asked Mrs. Green if I could sing too. She said it would be okay if I sang real soft. One time she had to give me the “Sh” signal when I tried to sing a high note. Here I am singing…

Below the Lake Junaluska dam
Below the Lake Junaluska dam

This is where the water falls over the dam that holds the water in Lake Junaluska. It was noisy here. I wanted to swim in the water so Mrs. Green let me get my feet wet. I’m not a very good swimmer for a duck.Ducker with wet feet

Here is the dam from the side the lake is on. This bridge is on top of the dam.

Mr. Green drove the car across the bridge. The lake is on the left while on the right the land is much lower than the road. The water falls over the dam on the right but you can’t see that part in this picture.

Making new friends

I met some Canada Geese by the lake. They were big and a little scary, but they were OK.

More new friendsThese are my new friends Andrew and Malachi Larson. They came to feed the ducks and geese. It’s fun to make new friends.

Lake & MountainsIn this picture you can see some of the mountains better. Mrs. Green said we would see lots of mountains later. Aren’t they lovely?

Carved bearsWe saw this in somebody’s yard. Mrs. Green said we might see more like it later. A man uses a chain saw to carve bears and other things out of logs. Mrs. Green wasn’t sure if this one was done the same way or not.

Mrs. Green is helping me write about our visit to Lake Junaluska, but she says it is past her bedtime. She promised to write some more tomorrow. We also have to write about visiting the Cherokee Indian Reservation and the Blue Ridge Parkway. There is so much to tell!

Ducker loves to travel and visit new places. Sometimes he gets restless and quacks and quacks begging Mrs. Green to find someplace where he can go. He travels with the help of the Post Office most of the time since that is cheaper than airline tickets. Contact Janice D. Green if you would like to host Ducker for a visit to someplace special. He behaves himself most of the time.
