The babies are gone. I havn’t seen the adult Bluebirds for two days now so I took the chance and peeked into the box. There was only one egg and no babies. There are two tiny round pink blobs in the nest, not much bigger than the head of a pin. I wonder if that could be part of the remains of the other egg that I thought didn’t hatch. I have been blown away by all the activity around my Bluebird house! As you can see by my previous posts here, I have watched one pair of Bluebirds move into my birdhouse within three days of setting it up back in the beginning of April. They built a nest, laid 5 eggs which all hatched. I’ve watched them, taken pictures inside the box, and yesterday they fledged while I was at work. I was so disappointed to miss them
Our bluebirds seem to be gone. I was so hopeful that I could continue to write about their progress every now and then, but I’ve only seen them twice all week. We moved the second birdhouse across the street so it wouldn’t be too close to a tree or to the first birdhouse. I don’t know if they felt intimidated when we moved the one, or if they had already moved on, or if they began killing each other off fighting
