A Winter’s Walk

A Winter’s Walk I walked with him One winter day Beside a beaver pond The trees were bare The water still Our feet the only sound Then through the wood Where brambles grabbed And vines messed up my hair But as we neared The field ahead Old dreams resurfaced dear To build on land With pond nearby And wildlife everywhere No matter this Land’s not for sale We’ll dream another year © 2011 by Janice D. What am I? (Just for fun)

What Am I? I’m snatched up From the pile Of hollow shells Just like me. My toes get warm As I stand alone, Next my belly, Last my head. I’m heavy now With warm sweetness A cap is twisted On my head We’re standing now All in rows Like soldiers In formation Heee heee, That tickles! A label is mashed On my tummy. I’ve filled many of these when I was a commercial beekeeper. I would tease my husband by giggling and pretending the honeybears were laughing when I put the labels on their tummies. © 2011 by Janice D. Green

The Lament of the Adult A.D.D.-er

© 2002, © 2004 by Janice D. Green I’m old enough to know myself To know what I can and cannot do Don’t fault me for choosing Not to beat my head against the wall Yet one more time Just to please you. Some things I do well, Yes, I truly excel. While in some things I’m slow Though by now I know How to compensate for most In other ways. I might not fit your mold Though you don’t understand why. I may be slow to catch on No matter how hard I try For I’m smart
