Why are Honeycomb Adventures Books published in three different formats? Because all readers aren’t alike. All three books have the same content with the exception of the puzzles which couldn’t be included in the e-books, and all three contain the link to the free downloadable PDF file with coloring pages and puzzles. Here is the breakdown:
Full-color picture books
The stand-by for children’s books has always been full-color. These are the same illustrations drawn by Kimberly Merritt as in the Jonah: The Fearful Prophet coloring book, and illustrations drawn by Nancy Gordon in The Creation coloring book, but the pages in the full-color picture books were colored by book author, Green, using Photoshop. Younger children’s eyes will be drawn to the rich colors in these books as they listen to the story as it is read or re-told in an even simpler style.
Coloring books
I shared my proof copies with some middle grade children, and their eyes lit up with the coloring books. My original thought in doing coloring books was to make the books more affordable, but keeping in mind the completeness of the stories, the coloring pages seem to be a perfect fit for this age children. Parents and other relatives might also enjoy coloring the pages for children who haven’t developed their own artistic skills yet. The name of the person who colors the book can be added to the cover and the title page.
E-books
The e-book has it all at the lowest price: the story, full-color pictures, and the link to the downloadable PDF file with coloring pages and puzzles. This resource should thrive in children’s ministry as the pictures and story can be shared on a big screen and children can color the pages and work the puzzles. Supplementary ideas for classroom use or VBS can also be found in other posts on this website.
