It is time to celebrate! Honeycomb Adventures Press, LLC is one year old today! This has been a learning process for me from the very beginning. With shallow pockets I have been teaching myself the ropes beginning with my writing, then teaching myself to do the hand applique for the quilt picture illustrations in The Creation, and then teaching myself to do layout in InDesign. I found great cheerleaders and coaches along the way and wish to thank many of them.
My husband Dave encouraged me to retire to write. Not only that, he has pitched in to help with laundry, cooking, and even washing dishes so I could work harder on my manuscripts, quilted illustrations, and other projects.
Crystal Bowman saw my work at the Florida Christian Writer’s Conference in 2009 and encouraged me to follow through on it. She also edited more than one of my manuscripts.
Larry Carpenter of Christian Book Services coached me and helped me to find the resources I needed to get The Creation printed and in the STL catalog and distribution center.
Kathy Frazier also helped several times with last minute critiques and edits helping me to sound more professional.
Nancy Gordon and Violet Vandor have worked hard to create wonderful drawings for the Bible story coloring pages that are available for download to make crayon colored Bible quilts.
Many other friends have cheered me on and helped me to get opportunities to have book signings, while others have spread the word about The Creation to their friends and sent them to the bookstores and online to purchase them.
My learning curve is now leading me into the next classroom without walls – learning to market my books and my platform. I am learning more and more everyday about online marketing and social networking, and still have a very long way to go.
I am especially thrilled with the new blog that I began with a group of Christian authors, and I encourage my readers to check out Christian Children’s Authors for daily posts about all things parents, caregivers, teachers, relatives and neighbors might find helpful for nurturing and encouraging children.
It feels great to be one year old today! And like a toddler I am still learning to walk in the world of publishing, but I am having so much fun along the way.
Wonderful, Janice! Congratulations. I’m looking forward to seeing what comes next for you.
Blessings,
Jean
Thanks Jean!
Congratulations Janice, that is a huge achievement. And send your hubby to have a word with mine will you. I wish you all the best with your book this year. Are you in any facebook groups? I have found them so helpful and useful for promoting all sorts.
Thanks, Catherine.
How am I to get our hubbies connected? We are both on Facebook. Find me easiest as Janice D. Green and like my page. Then I’ll find you and friend you.
Hi Janice – I just went into my “archives” to check on your name in From Dolly’s Desk and there you were! I had no idea you’d come so far. You probably don’t even know who I am, but I remember you and some of your stories. Congrats on your one year anniversary!! Beth posted a link on FB about HAP. So glad I saw it.
Thanks Susan. Friend me on FB and we can catch up.
