My Utmost for His Highest by Oswald Chambers is a classic among devotional books. It was first copyrighted in 1935 and continues to be printed and sold today.
In 2007 Phil A. Smouse published the children’s devotional Jesus Wants All of Me based on Oswald Chambers’ devotional. It is easy to read, has bright inviting pictures, the daily scripture, a prayer, and a place to write thoughts for Jesus for every day.
Since both devotionals follow the same sequence of daily scripture readings, it would make a wonderful combination for daily family devotions. The parents could read My Utmost For His Highest earlier in the day, perhaps for morning devotions. Then at bedtime read Jesus Wants All of Me with the children. This combination would enrich both the parent’s and child’s understanding of the scripture passage each day.
My Utmost For His Highest is online and can be read by clicking on the title.
