Meet Terri and Terry Schocke who hosted Ducker at the Ely Winter Festival this year. The Schocke’s are retired, but that doesn’t mean they have stopped working. They are as busy as ever volunteering and doing part-time work in the Ely, Minnesota community which has captivated their hearts. Terri has photographed Ducker at several points of interest in Ely and provided the information that went into the captions. In 2008 Terry and Terri were the Grand Marshals for the Ely Winter Festival.
The Schocke’s came to Minnesota in 1997 when Terry was assigned to the Boy Scout High Adventure Canoe Base on Moose Lake; where he was Director of Programs for many Boy Scouts in both summer and winter outdoor adventures. He retired in 2007.
Scouting activities include canoeing, camping, fishing, cross-country skiing, camping in snow quinzees (like igloos) and dog sledding.
Terri works with many civic activities within the community including part-time and volunteer work at the North American Bear Center and the Dorothy Molter Museum. Both Terri and Terry enjoy photography and the great outdoors, especially in the winter.
